United Football League Manager Flanked by Copyright Suit

Bee Creek Photography v. Football United LLC, Civil Action No. 1:23-cv-03151-JPB (N.D. Ga., July 17, 2023)

Bee Creek Photography (“Plaintiff”) has filed suit in the Northern District of Georgia for copyright infringement.

In the Complaint, Plaintiff describes itself as a “fine art photography studio who maintains a principal place of business in Travis County, Texas.” Dkt.1 at ¶ 5. Defendant is a professional sports promoter company that manages the United Football League (UFL). Id. at ¶ 3. Plaintiff alleges Defendant used a copyrighted photograph on the Website, which Defendant uses for monetary gain by selling merchandise and advertising sponsored sports events. Id. at ¶¶ 23-25. The photograph at issue is a “panoramic aerial view of Houston, Texas.” Id. at ¶ 2. According to the Complaint, “Defendant’s failure to respond to Plaintiff’s communicative efforts has forced Plaintiff to seek judicial intervention to address Defendant’s unlawful conduct Id. at ¶ 15. Plaintiff brings one count of copyright infringement.

The case has been assigned to Judge Jean-Paul Boulee.
