Pro Se Complaint Alleges Copyright Infringement of YouTube Song and Video

Ruben Jones v. Khalif Brown et al., Civil Action No. 1:22-cv-01805-WMR (N.D. Ga. May 6, 2022)

Plaintiff Ruben Jones, proceeding pro se, filed suit against Defendants Khalif Brown, Aaquil Brown, Jordan Houston, Jamal Rashid, Jean-Marie Horvat, Michael Williams, Jaycen Joshua, Ear Drummers, and Interscope on May 6, 2022 in the Northern District of Georgia (Atlanta Division). The Complaint alleges that Defendants violated Plaintiff’s exclusive right in copyrights pursuant to 17 U.S.C. § 106. Specifically, the Complaint allege that Plaintiff’s song and video entitled “Me and My Brother” was uploaded and published on YouTube on December 8, 2010. The Complaint alleges that Defendants recorded their infringing song in 2017 and released it in 2018. The Complaint requests actual damages in the amount of $8,000,000 and punitive damages in the amount of $2,000,000 for Defendants’ alleged infringement. The case has been assigned to Judge Ray in the Northern District.
