Howarth v. Ramis, Civil Action No. 1:23-cv-02627-LMM (N.D. Ga., June 12, 2023)
Plaintiff, a photographer, filed suit in the Northern District of Georgia for copyright infringement. According to the complaint, Defendant, Sam Ramis, operates a construction services company offering architectural, interior, and landscaping design known as “Hero Build Solutions, LLC.” Complaint, ¶ 4. In April 2022, Plaintiff obtained an amended default judgement of $301,536 plus attorney’s fees against Hero Build Solutions LLC (Civil Action No. 1:20-cv-4874-SCJ), but later discovered the extent of Mr. Ramis’ personal involvement with the infringement of Plaintiff’s works. Id. at ¶ 25-26. Complaint alleges, that Sam Ramis copied Plaintiff’s photographs and distributed them to advertise and promote Ramis’ business, and Hero Build Solutions, LLC is a “mere business conduit for [Defendant].” Id. at ¶ 29.
The Complaint brings one count of copyright infringement.
